Hello campus-community members,

OPCSMH September 2026 Webinar: Suicide Prevention: Building a Campus-Community Ready to Respond

Join the OPCSMH on Tuesday, September 29th at 12pm EST for a virtual panel discussion exploring how mental health and suicide prevention trainings can help create campus-communities that are prepared to recognize concerns, respond to students and colleagues, and connect individuals to support. While trainings such as Mental Health First Aid and QPR can provide participants with important knowledge and skills, their impact can extend well beyond the training itself.

Expert panelists will share their experiences developing and implementing training initiatives, including what makes these efforts effective, how they can be sustained, and how training can translate into meaningful action. Participants will leave with greater insight into how training can contribute to a culture of preparedness, connection, and suicide prevention across campus-communities.

The expert panel will feature:

  • Maria Grazia Cervone, MPH, CNC, Mental Health First Aid National Trainer, a behavioral health leader, educator, and consultant with deep expertise in mental health education and maternal wellness. As a certified Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) Instructor since 2013 and National Trainer since 2016, she provides trainings across the U.S. in Adult, Youth, and Teen curricula, including Spanish-language programs and specialized modules for higher education, public safety, veterans, and law enforcement.

  • Huma Bashir, Ed.D, LPCC-S, LICDC-CS, Professor in the Department of Human Services at Wright State University, where she teaches Clinical Mental Health and School Counseling students. She is an experienced counselor who believes in offering compassionate care to her clients who are facing challenges with mental, emotional, and substance abuse problems. Dr. Bashir has also served as a champion for Wright State University's QPR initiative.

  • Lynn B. Hennighausen, MS, Mental Health First Aid National Trainer and QPR Master Trainer, an accomplished facilitator, community leader, and lifelong learner, Lynn is passionate about advancing mental health awareness and education. As President of Davidson LifeLine, an all-volunteer nonprofit organization founded in response to a series of mental health crises in the Davidson community, Lynn and her team focus their efforts on mental health education, awareness, advocacy, and support in their community.
