  • Conference Speakers

We are excited to welcome Dr. Bernice Pescosolido, Distinguished Professor of Sociology at Indiana University, Bloomington, and Founding Director of the Indiana Consortium of Mental Health Research as the keynote speaker. For the past twenty-five years, Dr. Pescosolido has led and developed National Stigma Studies, and at Indiana University she led the Bring Change to Mind a national pilot study to increase mental health awareness and reduce stigma on college campuses. Pescosolido's research targets four major topics - suicide, the stigma of mental illness, health care systems, and network pathways to and through the medical care system. Kelly Davis, MS, Associate Vice President of Peer, and Youth Advocacy at Mental Health America will join us as the afternoon plenary. Kelly's work has centered on the expansion of peer support and young adult leadership. She is also passionate about lived experience-driven programs, policies, organizations, and research.

  • Who Should Attend

Campus stakeholders at institutions of higher education, higher education administrators, behavioral health organizations, health departments, campus security and law enforcement; students, educators, counselors, social workers, and others working within a higher education setting are encouraged to attend.

  • Conference Objectives

  • Identify how colleges and universities can collaborate with the campus-community to leverage the promotion of student safety & well-being, mental health awareness and campus suicide prevention efforts

  • Identify and acknowledge the cross-communal and inter-university partnerships that address and strengthen the outcome of mental health service provision for student populations

  • Identify outreach opportunities to engage student-focused programming that addresses stigma and barriers to accessing mental health care

  • Provide best practices, resources, and help-seeking options that target suicide prevention for all campus-community student populations

  • Recognize inclusive strategies and efforts meeting the needs of all groups within the campus-community, including first generation, BIPOC (black indigenous and people of color), students with needs for accessibility & accommodations and historically underrepresented backgrounds

  • Poster Presentations, more conference details to come!

We are also excited to share that for the first time ever, we will have a poster presentation session during the conference, which will include presentations from student organizations!
