Good afternoon, stakeholders,

The Role of Basic Needs in Prevention and Recovery Work

Colleagues from all over the country are invited to join the Higher Education Center for Alcohol and Drug Misuse Prevention Recovery and Jessica Zavala, MPA, Director of the Ohio Program for Campus Safety and Mental Health, as she leads a discussion to address The Role of Basic Needs in Prevention and Recovery Work in the upcoming Water Cooler Chat on May 14th, at 2:00 PM EST. The focus of this Water Cooler Chat will be Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs and the potential benefits of using it as a guide for prevention and recovery work. Participants will discuss the consequences of when students' basic needs are unmet and how this can affect the effectiveness of education, programs, and interventions. Additionally, participants will address ways to incorporate fundamental needs such as safety and security into prevention and recovery work on campus. Call for Statewide Prevention Advisory Committee Members

The Ohio Center of Excellence for Behavioral Health Prevention and Promotionhttp://www.preventioncoe.ohio.gov/ is currently accepting membership applications for four newly established statewide advisory committees:

The Center invites professionals with substantial expertise and/or professional experience in these areas to consider applying. Each advisory committee will convene virtually, ensuring accessibility to members from all regions of Ohio. The deadline to apply is by 5:00 PM on Friday, May 10.  More information about each advisory committee, including a project charter and application link can be found at https://preventioncoe.ohio.gov/get-connected/statewide-advisory-committees.
