Good morning, stakeholders,

Please see below for details on two of the wonderful sessions being offered at the OPCSMH 6th Biennial Conference on May 18th, 2023, in Columbus, Ohio!

Mental Health & Wellness Initiatives: Building Sustainable University & Community Partnerships

In conjunction with the Mental Health & Recovery Board of Ashland County, Ashland University has a thirty-year community partnership within the city and the county at large. Their mutual goal is to leverage and merge resources to promote safety, well-being, and mental health services to our shared stakeholders. Oscar McKnight, PhD, Associate Dean, Student Affairs, Director of Psychological Counseling & Health Services, Ashland University, and David Ross M. Ed, LPCC-S, Executive Director, The Mental Health & Recovery Board of Ashland, join us to discuss the partnership between the two organizations, the synergy required when University Systems and Community partners join forces, how participants can recognize the mental health networking opportunities that build and enhance the town-gown partnership, and the win-win-win benefit for the Student, Community, and University when promoting wellness and mental health resources.

Hey, I'm Here Ohio: A youth-led conversation on mental wellness and resilience in a multi-media driven society

Mental health in children, teenagers, and young adults is a growing concern in the United States. While this time could be about play and friendships, too often the stage of adolescence is a difficult one for Americans. The Hey, I'm Here Ohio campaign was formed in 2019, in response to the crisis of mental health. A youth-led community engaged in normalizing the conversation on mental health, it has achieved over 3 million impressions across Ohio and beyond. The campaign is led by the Resilience Squad, a 10+ member team of youth who meet regularly and practice resilience skills. In 2022, the youth updated the campaign's purpose statement: "A thought-provoking campaign that shares real stories and connects Ohio youth to a community that helps plant a seed on their journey of mental health and recovery." We will be joined by Katie Bachmeyer, BA, Project Director, and members of the Hey I'm Here Resilience Squad, Amanda Stoddard, Leroy Bean, and Liliana Covetta. They will share their stories of youth leading the campaign and using their voices to promote resiliency!
