Good morning, campus-community partners,
Suicide Prevention Awareness Month
Today, September 1st, marks the beginning of Suicide Prevention Awareness Month, a time to raise awareness and inspire hope. This month provides an opportunity to reduce the stigma surrounding mental health, encourage open and compassionate conversations, and promote awareness of suicide prevention resources. By listening, showing support, and reaching out to those who may be struggling, we can help create a community where everyone feels valued, supported, and never alone.
SAMHSA has released a Suicide Prevention Awareness Month toolkithttps://www.samhsa.gov/about/digital-toolkits/suicide-prevention-month that you may use to increase awareness in your campus-communities. The toolkit includes:
- Key Messages and Weekly Themes to guide and inspire awareness content.
- Social Media Graphics and Shareables to help promote awareness across your platforms.
- Digital Stickers, Profile Frames, and Email Signatures to reinforce suicide prevention messaging.
- Virtual Backgrounds to show support and promote awareness during online meetings.
- Hashtags to increase visibility, encourage engagement, and expand the reach of awareness efforts.
We thank you for your continued hard work to support the mental health of students and prevent suicide across Ohio's campus-communities!
