Collegiate Mental Health Assistant Position
The Ohio Program for Campus Safety and Mental Health (OPCSMH) is seeking a Collegiate Mental Health Assistant to work closely with the OPCSMH staff and consultants. The OPCSMH is a coordinating center of excellence. As a resource dissemination center, we promote suicide prevention, mental health awareness, and wellness. This is a state-wide program with key partnerships throughout various communities, colleges, and universities in Ohio.
We are seeking student applicants with interest and/or experience in campus mental health and wellness organizations and initiatives. This part-time position is from January 6, 2025, until May 27, 2025. We encourage those who are interested in the position to apply as soon as possible. Mini-Grant Opportunity - Localizing SAMHSA's "Talk. They Hear You." Messaging Campaign
The Ohio Center of Excellence for Behavioral Health Prevention and Promotion intends to issue up to (29) $10,000 community mini grants to localize the "Talk. They Hear You." campaign across Ohio. This national youth substance use prevention campaign helps parents and caregivers, educators, and community members get informed, be prepared, and take action to prevent underage drinking and other substance use.
    RFP Submission Deadline: November 24, 2024, 11:59 p.m. EST
    Notification of Successful Applicants: On or before December 12, 2024, 5:00 p.m.
    Project Period Begins: January 1, 2025
    Deadline for Project Completion: June 30, 2025

Reminder: November Webinar: The Essential Role of Sleep in College Mental Health
You are invited to join the OPCSMH and J. Roxanne Prichard, PhD, Professor of Psychology, University of St. Thomas, on November 7th at 12:00 PM EST for the OPCSMH November 2024 webinar, The Essential Role of Sleep in College Mental Health. Dr. Prichard will discuss the most common causes and consequences of poor sleep in college students. This webinar will use insights from neuroscience to describe the bidirectional relationship between sleep and mental health, including relationships between sleep disturbances, loneliness, and suicidality. The webinar will then conclude with practical ways university health centers can better identify and support students with disturbed sleep. We hope to see you there!
